HarpArts is offered as a retreat of harp study for adults directed by Lynne Aspnes, Professor of Harp at Arizona State University.

Morning training sessions will emphasize technique and skills development in group settings, with particular emphasis placed on level appropriate assessments, leaving the afternoons free for practice, self-selected projects, guest presentations, and that special HarpArts retreat experience that feeds your creative side.

A cornerstone of the Harp Arts program is the opportunity for ensemble practice and performance. During the week there are master classes, performance classes, practice time, and solo, duo, and trio work. The instructors are available for consultation during the day to share their knowledge and experiences.

Classes cover such topics as performance success, technique, theory, harp maintenance, musicology, repertoire, and orchestral performance.

There are five evenings of group or solo performance classes, a concert by professional musicians, and a final Showcase Workshop Presentation and demonstration of the retreat activities for the surrounding community on Saturday evening. Showcase Concerts are always a great success.

During the week there is also time for guests to enjoy the beauty and serenity of Smithgall Woods with a walk, a hike, or a conversation on the porch with new friends.
